What do I need to get started?
An Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. On first launch, Oriole Voice downloads its speech model. Grant microphone and text insertion permissions, plus call audio access for meetings. Then choose a shortcut you hold while speaking, or press to start and finish.
Does everything happen on my Mac?
Speech recognition runs on your Mac, for dictation and meetings. With Pro, cleanup sends the dictated text, the app or website it is going to, the text near your cursor in that window, and your Vocabulary terms, so names and terms come out right; meeting summaries send the transcript, your notes, and the calendar guests’ names. Our server keeps none of it, and audio never leaves your Mac. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Can I use Oriole Voice offline?
Yes, transcription works offline once the speech model has downloaded. Pro features need an internet connection.
How does meeting capture work?
Oriole Voice captures your microphone and the call audio on your Mac. It produces a transcript that marks your words apart from everyone else’s. After the call, the other voices are labeled Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. You can add written notes or, with Pro, generate an AI summary. Make sure participants know you are recording and that you have the consent you need.
What happens to my original words?
Your original transcript stays in your history, alongside cleaned dictations and meeting summaries. You can review the source material and copy meeting notes or transcripts as Markdown.
